It was a stellar year for CGFC playing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA).
The Club for the first time in its 125-year history fielded 8 teams, consisting of 5 Men’s teams including 2 Under 19 teams and 3 Women teams. Overall, we had 288 players play across the 8 teams, 183 Men and 105 Women.
Many of our Men and Women players attended CGS and as such the Club allows the school connection to continue and flourish.
6 of the 8 teams made finals, 5 of the 6 played in a Preliminary Final and 3 in Grand Finals.
The Men’s senior team returned to Premier A Division in the VAFA after securing a spot in the Grand Final with a 10-goal demolition of Old Ivanhoe in the Preliminary Final. Unfortunately, they lost the Grand Final to Old Trinity in a tight struggle.
Both the Women’s senior and reserves teams played in the top tier Premier A Division of the VAFA and played in Grand Finals but also unfortunately lost. Despite this they had standout years.
The Women’s third team which the Club registered well after the season had commenced due to the high demand of Women players also made it to the Preliminary Final.
The Club was also fortunate to have Matthew Clarkson play in the B Grade VAFA Victorian Representative team and Jacinta Baxter and Chloe O’Malley play in the Premier Grade VAFA Victorian Representative team. Both Matthew and Jacinta being CGS alumni.
Our Presentation Night held at Encore on 3 October was attended by over 180 players, family and friends with the after party at the Espy Hotel going well into the night. This was just one of several social events held during the year.
Season 2026 is shaping to be a huge year on and off the field for the Club, and I would encourage and welcome anyone of any standard to come along and join our great Club as there is a place for you.
Training starts in late November at Caulfield Grammar School – Glen Eira Campus and resumes in the New Year in early February at our home ground Glenhuntly Oval, North Caulfield.
