The Role
The Head of Faculty plays a vital role in shaping the student learning experience, leading the way in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and teaching practices for their faculty across years 7 – 12, working closely with their cross-campus counterpart ensuring the student experience is aligned across campuses. The Head of Faculty is dedicated to elevating academic achievement, fostering a culture of curiosity and excellence, and ensuring that every student thrives in a dynamic and engaging learning environment.
Beyond curriculum leadership, this role inspires and equips teaching staff in their faculty to create classrooms where students are challenged, supported, and motivated to excel. It champions high-impact teaching, professional growth, and collaboration, driving continuous improvement and innovation. Working closely with the broader School Teaching and Learning team, Campus Head of Teaching and Learning, and other Heads of Faculty, this role ensures that teaching practices reflect the latest research and best practice. A key focus is using student learning and assessment insights to refine approaches, enhance teaching effectiveness, and achieve outstanding outcomes across the campus.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
- Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Minimum 5 years proven record as an outstanding teacher.
- Experience with mentoring and coaching to build trust amongst students, parents and staff, with the aim of improving and aligning pedagogical practices within the middle and senior years.
- Experience teaching from Year 7 to Year 12 is desirable.
- Excellent influencing and conflict resolution and problem-solving skills and ability to give and receive feedback in an appropriate manner.
- Proven ability to manage challenging situations while effectively overseeing and prioritising issues.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and assessment across multiple year levels, ensuring high academic standards.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and fostering collaboration for consistent outcomes.
- Relevant experience working across multiple campuses and collaborating with teaching staff and leadership teams would be advantageous.
- A responsive and relationship-focused leader who fosters a positive and collaborative environment.
- Self-aware and committed to ongoing personal and professional growth, driving continuous improvement.
