Job Description
In 2021 the school commenced a partnered initiative with Traditional Owners to provided middle and senior school students with extended, residential expeditions across the Northern Territory, broadening students’ experiences beyond the conventional routines of family and school life. So too their connection to country.
Based remotely in the township of Jabiru and reporting to the Head of Kakadu, the Kakadu Program Teacher or Specialist will be a residential educator that support the School’s Kakadu Program to the Northern Territory, developing and designing innovative curriculums.
Kakadu Program Teacher or Specialists are required to work to the needs of the students as required in a dynamic working environment. As such, accommodation and meals onsite are provided. Opportunities for travel and lifestyle are available, around the requirements of the role.
We have a 6-month, fixed term, full-time opportunity for the remainder of 2025 starting in Term 3.
Key responsibilities:
- Observe and monitor student learning, wellbeing and development throughout the program while maintaining proactive and reactive communication with parents
- Provide opportunities for student leadership and responsibility within the programme, encouraging a spirit of excellence, responsibility, and cooperation within the group.
- Liaise and maintain communication with the Kakadu Program Leadership Group, on the well-being of students, staff, and other changes to daily site situations
- Promote positive and professional relationships between Caulfield Grammar School and local communities promoting cultural-sensitivity when engaging with community groups.
- Be committed to providing a safe physical and emotional environment where students are respected and treated with dignity in an appropriate professional and caring manner.
- Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours
Key skills:
- Demonstrated educational leadership in a residential environment is desirable
- Adaptable and compassionate to students and diverse learning spaces and environments
- Level 2 First Aid or Remote Wilderness First Aid Training and Anaphylaxis Management Training
- Light-rigid driving license
- National Police Check or a willingness to obtain one
- Relevant Teaching or Outdoor Education qualifications
- Hold a current VIT, NT Registration or any relevant Outdoor Qualifications
