The Role 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. 

The Payroll Manager is responsible for management of the payroll department including overseeing preparation and administration of payroll, superannuation, and work cover, along with managing the associated compliance obligations on behalf of the school 

This is a permanent, full – time position at our new Shelford Campus and has hybrid working environment. 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Be responsible for processing and reporting of fortnightly and monthly payroll 
  • Lead, develop, supervise, and provide guidance and support to the payroll team 
  • Provide customer service and expert advice to internal customers 
  • Be responsible for ensuring preparation of month end journals, reports, and payroll reconciliations 
  • Participate in the performance management process; working with staff to develop, monitor and review work performance 
  • Identify and implement continual process improvement initiatives to achieve and maintain functional performance in line with accepted industry standards 
  • Managing external payroll payments to third party providers including suppliers of salary sacrifice arrangements, union fees, government agencies 
  • Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviors 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Considerable experience in a similar position, preferably within an educational setting 
  • Have good working knowledge of relevant Employment Awards and National Employment Standards 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with payroll systems, Workday Payroll would be advantageous  
  • Strong stakeholder management skills 
  • High level of attention to detail and analytical capability 
  • People management experience 
  • Trained in payroll related legislation 
  • Working With Children Check
