Job Description

The Associate Head of Teaching and Learning – Assessment plays a key role in shaping the student learning experience by supporting curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and teaching practices. Working alongside the Campus Head of Teaching and Learning, this role helps drive academic excellence and fosters a culture of curiosity and growth across Years 7–12. It offers strategic and operational leadership in key areas, supporting alignment across campuses and providing a clear pathway for career development into senior teaching and learning roles.

This position focuses on building staff capacity in data-informed teaching, leading consistent assessment practices, and coordinating academic enrichment initiatives that celebrate and extend student achievement. Collaborating with leaders across both campuses, the role influences whole-school practice through joint projects, strategic use of data, and shared innovation, ensuring a unified and enriched academic experience for all students.

These are full-time, 3-year fixed term Positions of Responsibility commencing 1 January 2026 available at our Caulfield and Wheelers Hill Secondary campuses..

Key selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Education (postgraduate qualifications desirable).
  • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
  • A deep understanding of curriculum and explicit and inquiry-based learning practices.
  • Proven experience in embedding school-wide curriculum and consistent assessment standards across multiple year levels, with a focus on maintaining high academic standards.
  • Data literacy and the ability to effectively use data to drive academic improvement.
  • A commitment to professional development and continuous improvement, aligned with school-wide goals.
  • Adaptability to new policies, changes in the curriculum, or evolving student needs.
  • Relevant experience in collaborating with teaching staff and leadership teams across multiple campuses will be an advantage.
  • Self-aware and committed to ongoing personal and professional growth, driving continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in building strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to positively influence outcomes.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented leader dedicated to student wellbeing across all year levels.
