2019 Don Wirth Medal Winners

The CGA would like to congratulate our 2019 Don Wirth Medal winners, Michael Dakic, David Gregor, Chris Mathieson and Warwick Watson, for their outstanding service and support. MICHAEL DAKIC Michael Dakic has been an outstanding contributor to the culture and success of the Caulfield Grammarians Rowing Club (CGRC). Mike commenced his association with Caulfield Grammar in 1992 when the first of his five children attended Wheelers Hill campus. Mike joined the newly formed Rowing Club in 1994, after his son started rowing for Caulfield Grammar. As a founding member of the Rowing Club, Mike then took on the challenge of learning how to row. Mike became a committee member in 1995 and was appointed club boat man in 1999 — a position he held for the next 15 years. Mike’s rowing career blossomed,...

2019 Founder’s Day Dinner

On Friday 3 May close to 100 past students and guests joined the celebrations at our annual Founder’s Day Reunion Dinner, held at the Wheelers Hill Campus.  It was wonderful to give our older Grammarians an opportunity to visit the beautiful campus on Jells Road which many of them had never been to before. The Founder’s Day Dinner served as a reunion function for the Classes of 1964, 1969 and 1974. It was also great to see so many of our APS colleagues in attendance as well as strong contingents from the rowing and football clubs. Those in attendance enjoyed a delicious 6 course meal and wonderful performances from the Grammarian Singers and Wheelers Hill Chamber Strings, while Principal Ashleigh Martin provided a comprehensive School Report. Don Wirth Medal

Eligibility: Life Members, Honorary Members and Honorary Life Members may be eligible for nomination for a Don Wirth Medal, after completion of 10 years of service to the Association and/or the School (or such lesser period as the CGA Committee may decide in special circumstances). Length of service alone shall be insufficient to merit a Don Wirth Medal. Outstanding service must be the primary foundation upon which an award is granted. What constitutes outstanding service shall be determined by the CGA Committee from time to time, using the following guidelines (and such other measures as the CGA Committee for the time being may consider relevant and important): The nominee will be judged relative to those of similar status.
