Make Your Career More Social

Social media is an important part of many of our personal lives, keeping us connected with family and friends but it is also an important part of our business lives and many people are failing to take advantage of the career benefits it offers.

Having a strong LinkedIn profile and using it to build strong professional connections are essential tools for every Australian business person.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional networking site with nearly 6 million Australian members.

Here are 3 reasons you need to get more social on LinkedIn:

Recruiters and employers are using LinkedIn to search (head hunt) for perspective employees before considering advertising a vacancy. This head hunting helps them find the people who may not see their job ad or know they are even looking. If you do not have a strong LinkedIn profile you could be missing out on opportunities.

The majority of Australians will find their job through their networks, not job ads. A LinkedIn profile enables you to stay connected to former colleagues, business acquaintances and customers or prospects as well as build new connections with like-minded professionals or even companies you are interested in working for. This helps you stay on top of opportunities.

As an active contributor of content on LinkedIn you can blog, share articles, ideas and position yourself as a thought leader in your industry. This enables you to demonstrate your expertise and experience within your profession.

To learn more about how to make the most of your social media presence come along to our LinkedIn event on Wednesday 5th September at Wheelers Hill Campus. Attendees will hear from Steve Shepherd, CEO of career strategy firm of TwoPointZero about:

  • Understanding the different types of business social media and their benefits
  • Understanding your personal brand and how to represent it in business social media
  • Editing your LinkedIn profile to achieve business outcomes
  • Creating business social networks and connections
  • Positioning yourself as a ‘thought leader’ in your field

Attendees will also have a professional headshot taken by our photographer on the night. Tickets are $15 per person and are selling fast. Book now to avoid missing out.
