COVID-19: New Ways of Engaging

covid-19: new ways of engaging

As you may already be aware, due to COVID-19, the CGA has made the difficult decision to postpone our physical events for the next three months (April-June). While we hope to run these events later in the year we are going to start trialing virtual events and reunions using Zoom, a cloud-based platform for video communications, that hopefully many of you will already be familiar with.

Our virtual reunions will be held on the same dates as the postponed in-person reunions and will run for approximately one hour. Participants will be invited to bring their own snacks and drinks and meet us online for a casual chat from the comfort of their homes. We will also be inviting current and past staff, who you may have lost touch with, to participate. This promises to be a fun way to connect during this period of social isolation and we hope you will join us.

We are also investing heavily in our social media channels at the moment including running a campaign to support Grammarian businesses – #GrammariansSupportingGrammarians. If you would like to promote your business please email [email protected] with a short paragraph (100 words max) and an image. If you are looking for goods or services and want to use a Grammarian business check out our CGA Business Directory.

In addition, we are in the process of setting up Facebook groups to facilitate greater peer-to-peer engagement between specific alumni segments such as class groups, overseas alumni and golden alumni. We will be posting Throwback Thursday images, alumni profiles, class notes updates and running competitions for user-generated content. We encourage you to join the group/s relevant to you and to let your peers know about them too:

Visit our Facebook page for the full list of groups as they become available.

We are excited to have the opportunity to explore these new ways of engaging and are planning to carry many of these initiatives into the future (beyond the COVID-19 crisis). It is important to us that we remain flexible and innovative in order to continue to deliver high quality service for each and every one of our alumni.

We appreciate that many of you are facing significant challenges which is why we are getting on with the job at hand and embracing the ‘new normal’. As part of our commitment to this we will be launching our CGA Strategic Vision Book next week. Keep an eye out for this important document to learn more about how it relates to you.

We hope you and your family remain safe and well in these extraordinary times.

With best wishes from the CGA team.
