On Friday 17 July the Caulfield Grammarians’ Association held the Class 2000 20-Year reunion via Zoom. Almost 30 members of the class joined us for their reunion including several participants from overseas locations such as New York and Singapore. One class member even dialed in from lockdown in a police academy where they were in training!
The group was also joined by past teachers Katrina Ratner and Sue Sonego (currently Director of Community Engagement at Caulfield Grammar School). A big thank you in particular to Katrina who tackled Zoom for the first time and got some ‘how to’ tips from her old students.
After a brief welcome to the whole group from CGA Executive Director Linda Sprott, the Class of 2000 were placed in break-out rooms based on their campus at school. Over the next hour or so there was an opportunity for everyone attending to tell their own story about post-school life and to reminisce about school days. Some participants were able to renew acquaintances for the first time since leaving school.
When the everyone came back to the main session, the Wheelers Hill group were keen to continue chatting and held their own virtual ‘after party’. Those who participated greatly enjoyed the opportunity to connect, although all in attendance hoped that there would be an opportunity for a face-to-face get-together in 2021.
Make sure you regularly check our events page for the latest updates about a potential reunion next year. There has been lots of information shared (including pictures) and talk of an unofficial catch up on the Class of 2000 Facebook Group so we encourage you to join to stay in touch with your peers.
