A Career in Construction – Peta Krahn

Peta Krahn is no stranger to working in a male-dominated environment. She’s been involved in the Australian construction industry across the building, oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors for approximately 18 years. With such a wealth of knowledge Peta was a perfect candidate to speak at a recent International Women’s Day Assembly at Wheelers Hill Campus. Peta was a student at the Wheelers Hill Campus from 1989 (Year 5) to 1996 (Year 12). Olympic Swimmer – Mack Horton

Mack Horton was born on 25 April 1996 and attended Caulfield Grammar from 2000 (Kindergarten at Malvern Campus) to 2014 (Year 12 at Caulfield Campus). He was Co-Captain of Malvern Campus in 2008 and in his final year at Caulfield was Co-Captain of boys’ swimming team that won the APS premiership. He was awarded triple colours for swimming and received the Caulfield Grammarians’ Swimming Club Prize for boys at the 2014 Speech Night. Mack first represented Australia at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu, where he won gold in the 1500 metre freestyle in a championship record time. Stonnington’s Youngest Mayor – Jami Klisaris

At a special council meeting on 9 November 2016 Jami Klisaris (2008-10) was elected Mayor of the City of Stonnington. At just 24 years of age, Jami was Stonnington’s youngest ever Mayor and the youngest ever female Mayor in Victoria. This follows on from her initial election as Councillor at the age of 20, where she was the the youngest female Councillor elected in the 2012 Victorian Local Government elections. During her one-year term Cr Klisaris was determined to serve the Stonnington community as its full-time Mayor with a clear vision, enthusiasm and energy. Law & Music – Yvonne Kushnir

It has been an interesting and varied journey for Yvonne Kushnir (1995-2008) who was admitted to practise law at a ceremony at the Supreme Court on 19 September. Yvonne graduated from Monash University in 2012 with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees while working part-time. The law beckoned and Yvonne began at the University of Melbourne’s School of Law in 2014, graduating with the degree of Juris Doctor in 2016. In 2014, she did a short internship with a criminal defence attorney in Philadelphia. The following year, she volunteered with the Prison Legal Education and Assistance Program which involved speaking to prisoners about their rights and educating them on court procedures.
