The annual Marsden Chapter Luncheon was held recently on Thursday 4th of October in the Valentines Mansion at our Malvern Campus. The event was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the unique history and legacy of Malvern.
There were over 60 guests in attendance including Principal Mr Ashleigh Martin, Vice-Principal Mr Andrew Strooper, Head of Malvern Campus Ms Simone Reilly, Head of Community Engagement Mrs Sue Sonego and CGA Senior Vice President, Emily Davis. We were also honored to have newly elected Marsden Chapter President in the room, Mr John Long. The roll call of past students that attended included Grammarians from the late 1930s to the late 1960s.
Past students enjoyed a delicious luncheon, and viewing a memorabilia and photographic display of items from the Malvern Grammar Archives Collection. Thanks go to School Archivist Judith Gibson who was responsible for organizing the archives display.
It was wonderful to hear stories about boarding life, classroom learning and past staff including Miss Bird, Bill Sayers and Ralph Skitch.
A key part of the day was the year 5 and 6 student greeters that helped welcome all the guests on arrival. They gave up their time during the school holidays to come and be a part of this special event. A big thank you to them for their efforts. It was also wonderful to see the old ballroom decorated with beautiful student artwork courtesy of art teacher Philippa and her students.
Current Caulfield students Will Lord, Tobias Bottrall and James Sampson also contributed to the day, playing wonderful jazz for our guests to enjoy.
Thank you to everyone at Malvern who helped make this a fantastic day for our Grammarians.
